The Threat to Aviation.
- Since 29th August 2014 the Threat level in the UK has been assessed as Severe.
- There are 5 levels of Threat:
- Low – an attack is unlikely.
- Moderate – an attack is possible, but not likely.
- Substantial – an attack is a strong possibility.
- Severe – an attack is highly likely.
- Critical – an attack is expected imminently.
- Threat levels do not have an expiry date, they are reviewed regularly to ensure that they remain current.
- The UK Governments counter terrorism strategy aims to reduce the risk from international terrorism.
- The Government can never guarantee that attacks will never take place, but tries to reduce the risk as much as possible.
- Assessments of the level and nature of the Threat from international terrorism are made by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC).
