General security awareness
- Numbered areas of access:
- Internal area(s) of the SRA, including departure lounges, piers and the interior of other buildings with exception of 2 and 3.
- Baggage reclaim halls.
- Baggage make-up areas.
- Ramp / apron.
- Aircraft and their footprints.
- All other areas of the SRA, including runways.
- Access all areas.
- Pass’s should be displayed at chest height at all times.
- Everybody who works at the airport must be vigilant.
- Challenge suspicious persons/ask for ID.
- Report suspicious incidents.
- As a security officer, you will be seen as a appropriate person.
- Suspicious behaviour can be difficult to define:
- Report suspicious behaviour.
- Observe/ challenge a person who seems unfamiliar with their surroundings.
- Report something out of place.
- If you see a stranger, or someone not displaying a ID, challenge them.
- Offences that you initially may be required to deal with:
- People who give false information about baggage.
- People found in the SRA without authority.
- People onboard aircraft without authority.
- People who refuse to leave the SRA or aircraft when asked to do so.
