Security Restricted Areas

  • Airports are divided into Landside & Airside
  • The SRA exist to prevent prohibited items being taken onto an aircraft for use in any act of unlawful interference
  • Not all key parts of an airport are located within the SRA
  • Passenger Terminal – Landside
  • Departure Lounge – Airside
  • Aircraft aprons – Airside
  • Cargo areas
  • Airport / Airline Operations Centres
  • Airside & Landside
  • Air Traffic Control Centres – Airside
  • Other vulnerable areas – Fuel farms, Sub Stations, Navigation beacons
  • Must have physical barrier
  • Open areas within the SRA to be patrolled
  • Use of security equipment – CCTV – Infra Red detectors – Fencing alarms etc
  • Access control system
